DFA Reduces Credit Card Fees for Revenue Office Transactions
Arkansans to save $2.4 million annually

LITTLE ROCK, Arkansas (August 1, 2024) – The Arkansas Department of Finance and Administration (DFA) today announced credit card processing fees have been reduced across the state for all Revenue Office transactions. The reduction includes transactions at the state’s 134 Revenue Offices.

Prior to today’s announcement, credit card processing fees at State Revenue Offices were 2.75% with a $2 minimum. The fee is now 1.6% with no minimum charge.

These changes are expected to save Arkansans more than $2.45 million every year.

In addition to the fee reduction, DFA will replace existing, outdated payment terminals in Revenue Offices with more than 800 new devices. The new devices will be fully deployed by the end of 2024. The new, modern chip readers will improve customer experience and reduce the potential for fraud.

“Governor Sanders consistently asks her Cabinet to find creative ways to streamline services and save Arkansans money,” said DFA Secretary Jim Hudson. “We evaluated the fees charged to our customers and saw that we had an opportunity to reduce fees for credit card transactions. We owe our customers a great experience with as little cost to them as possible. The steps announced today will save our revenue office customers more than $2.4 million per year and eliminate frustrating interactions with outdated technology.”
